Swedish Meat Balls I

1-1/2 cups dry bread crumbs
3/4 cup milk
3 tablespoons onions, finely chopped
4 tablespoons butter
1 pound ground beef
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 cup flour
1 cup cream of mushroom soup

Soak bread crumbs in milk. Saute onion in 2 tablespoons butter until soft. Add to bread crumbs. Add beef, seasonings, and egg. Form into balls about 1 inch in diameter, roll in flour. Saute in remaining 2 tablespoons butter about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Add mushroom soup, cover, simmer gently 5 minutes. Remove meat balls to serving dish. Thicken gravy with 1 to 1-1/2 tablespoons flour blended with equal amount of water. Pour over meat balls.

Serves 6.
